Big Event to “Reclaim our Youth and Community”

Nyack, N.Y.’€“’€“The Rev. Patricia Ackerman, founder of Over the Rainbow Institute for Living Ethics, in partnership with leaders throughout Rockland, is inviting the community at large to an event in Nyack’s Memorial Park by the river entitled Healing The Moment: Reclaiming Our Youth and Community. The rally, featuring celebrities, musical performers, spiritual and community leaders, will take place Sunday, April 27th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Park. ‘€œIn response to recent racially painful events in our village, we are bringing together our youth, parents, grandparents, and all families and friends for a town wide gathering for several hours. We hope the time will provide an opportunity for healing, education, and guidance, to address the community’s most serious concerns,’€ said Rev.Ackerman.

The Event will begin at 3:00 p.m. with keynote speeches by the Rev. Al Sharpton (invited), Rosie O’Donnell (invited), legendary Nyack NAACP President, Mrs. Frances Pratt, Gregory Frederick of Hudson Link & Mercy College, along with religious & community leaders and elected officials.

Live music will be performed by renown Blues Man, Sam ‘€œMagic Man’€ Waymon and his Magic Band, ‘€œSalt’€ of Salt-n-Pepa, Myra Casales & ‘€œCoco Mama,’€ Joanne Humphries Saunders, Stella Marrs, Jazz Diva & Activist (invited), Sons of an An Illustrious Father, Blue As a Bear and other Nyack favorites.

Local and fabulous food and drink provided by Over The Rainbow Cafe, Temptations, Strawberry Place, The Art Cafe, Back to Earth Foods, Didier Dumas, The Runcible Spoon, and Sean Juan Café. Sponsorships available @ 917-488-9929
