This week in the villages: More improvements to Memorial Park are underway. The Town of Orangetown is holding a candidate debate. It’s Week 4 of the River Road closure under the Tappan Zee Bridge in South Nyack and of overnight lane and exit closures in the southbound direction.
Village of Nyack
The spruce up of Memorial Park continues. On Friday, ground was broken; splash pad construction is now underway. The village is building a new gazebo and upgrading the landscaping.
Town of Orangetown
An Orangetown candidate debate will be held on Monday, October 30 at 7:30p at town hall. The MCs will be former County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef, of Blauvelt, Robert Schelin, of Tappan, and Kate Raffa.
Allan Ryff (D) and Heather Hurley (D) are challenging incumbents Tom Diviny (R) and Denis Troy (R) for their seats on the town council. Thom Kleiner (D) and Chris Day (R) are running for Supervisor.
The debate will be broadcast on Orangetown’s public access cable Verizon channel 30 and Cablevision channel 78.
Tappan Zee Bridge News
River Road, near the Tappan Zee and Mario Cuomo bridges, will be closed again this week. And this week will again see construction activities which will require multiple overnight lane closures of New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) southbound/eastbound traffic lanes from exit 11 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) to exit 10 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W).
Work will also require the overnight closure of the southbound/eastbound Thruway exit 10 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) on-ramp. Southbound/eastbound drivers will be detoured to the exit 11 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) on-ramp, shown below.
All four Rockland-bound (northbound/westbound) lanes will remain open during the operation. Specific lane and ramp closure times are listed in the chart below.
