As Others See Us: Nyackers Under New Names

The Orlando Sentinel has a piece about a chance meeting between two former Nyackers living under new names in new places. Both have influenced many who followed their work over the years.

“I’ve always loved this small-world story from a column years ago,” says Orlando Sentinel entertainment columnist Commander Coconut. “Local TV anchor Carole Nelson was having a pre-show chat with songwriter Rupert Holmes, a guest on her noon newscast, and noticed he was from Nyack, N.Y., a town she was familiar with, and after a bit, she looked at him more closely and said, “David Goldstein?

“He looked back at her with recognition and said, “Miss Brown?” Carole had had him as a student ‘€” at the time both had different names, Nelson being her married name. (I saw Carole Nelson at a funeral a few weeks ago, and she is still lovely; she’s married, lives in Deltona and teaches at Seminole State College.)”
