Feiner To Receive NYCLU Award

Nyack resident and free-speech advocate Irving Feiner will be honored by the NYCLU’s Reproductive Rights Project on May 20. Feiner, who died in February at the age of 84, will posthumously receive the Myron Isaacs Community Service Award.

Irv FeinerAs a young college student Feiner played a significant role in the Constitutional debate over free speech when the Supreme Court upheld his conviction on disorderly conduct charges for provoking his audience as he spoke from a soapbox in Syracuse, NY in 1949.

The May 21 celebration, held at The Riverview in Hastings-on-Hudson, will also honor Zelle Andrews and Harry O. Bright, Jr with the award.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Donation for the event is $100 per diner, $50 for students. Please visit the NYCLU site for more information.
