As part of a months-long celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal, the Flotsam Circus floated into the Nyack marina on Saturday evening, thrilling an audience of hundreds on the shores of the Hudson River.
For those unfamiliar with these seafaring entertainers, the nonprofit Flotsam Circus is “a troupe of musicians, circus performers, and puppeteers who travel on a ramshackle raft giving free performances in waterfront towns. Our goal is to bring some magic and whimsy to the world while helping communities engage with their waterways.”
According to reports, the costumes are “mutant fish” and “the Wah da da dah” is the language they speak.
Thankfully, our whimsically acrobatic photographer Andrea Swenson was on hand to capture the show, in our latest Photo Shoot! (Scroll down for more photos and a full slideshow.)
