Dynamic summer duo: a burger and a beer

Burger Loft/District 96 has opened its doors — and taps — at a second Nyack location, this one on Main Street.

A few weeks ago, our intrepid reporter Barbara Puff wrote about an art installation showcasing work by The Nyack Art Collective at Burger Loft/District 96 Beer Factory in New City.

This week, just in time for burger and beer season, we have a breaking follow-up: The long-awaited second location of the Burger Loft has opened its doors – and taps – on Main and Broadway in Nyack, and its grand opening is Monday.

Artwork from the Collective – as Puff promised – adorns the walls and is available for sale, according to LoHud, which put together this slideshow of the new haunt. Owner John Potenza had for years allowed the 30-member Nyack Art Collective to meet for free at the New City Location.

“We want this to be your casual, family place,” Potenza told LoHud.

The new outpost features large windows, a cement bar, wooded floor, and exposed piping — overall an industrial look. It seats about 50, a fraction of the New City Location capacity, and has four TVs, LoHud reported.

The Nyack spot’s menu features eight District 96 beers on tap, burgers, and a variety of options for anyone not as into beer or burgers. You have your salads, tacos, vodka spritz cans, cider and creative cocktails. And yes, you can get (Idaho potato) fries with that shake (strawberry, chocolate or vanilla).

The beers have witty names like Silent Majority (a pale ale, clearly) and West Wing (some bitterness).

Well done, Burger Loft. Such humor is rare.

We hope you enjoyed the Photo Op (with a cream soft finish).
