2011 School Budget Passes Easily

Nyack, May 17, 11:15p  — Twelve percent of the registered voters sloshed to the polls on a rain soaked election day, passing the 2011-12 school budget by 73 percent. Incumbent board member Claudette Jimmerson was the top voter getter in the trustee vote. New comers Leeann Irvin and James Marshall will be joining the 2001-12 Nyack School Board.

With almost 73 percent voting Yes, the 2011-12 school budget passed 1250 to 459.

Voter turnout dropped by two percent compared to last year’s election which also was held on a rainy day.  However, turnout was still higher than 2009 when two trustee candidates ran for office unopposed.
