With Halloween right around the corner, Rockland is getting spooky. Get your front lawn ready for the House and Lawn Decorating Competition or join the Rockland Boulders for their Halloween-Extravaganza. Enjoy the fall weather during the Oak Hill Cemetery Walking Tour or shop for mums and pumpkins at the Van Houten Farms or for art books and other treasures to benefit a new play by Samuel Harps. Fans of classical music should head to the Union Arts Center for the Opening Gala Classical Music Concert.

- Work with a mix of natural, fine arts, and craft materials while being guided by master artists at the Teen Eco-Art Studio. Work with a range of tools and learn about the natural world. - It’s “Trunk or Treat”-time at the Rockland Boulders Halloween Extravaganza! Decorate the trunk of your car and get into your assigned spot to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. Kick-off Halloweek in Nyack by taking part in the first ever House and Lawn Decorating Competition. Get out your scariest decoration and turn your front lawn into a spooky scenery. The public will walk through the village and select the best decorated homes. Get your ballots at 6p at Maura’s Kitchen, 81 S Broadway. The contest is running through October 26.
- It’s opening night for Kris Campbell’s debut solo exhibition AND OF OUT IN. On display are works inspired by portraits and stories of Nyack area transgender men and women. The opening reception will be held from 7-10p, 95 1/2 Main, 95 1/2 Main St, Nyack.

Did you know Nelson Mandela was also an actor? When Shades Repertory Theater founder Sam Harps discovered that one of his heroes had a theater background, he wrote Antigone on Robben Island — Mandela Takes the Stage. Now Sam Harps is trying to bring his tribute to Nelson Mandela to a local stage near you. You can support that effort at a sale to benefit the production. Six hands, two pianos, and three illustrious Russian pianists – Vassily Primakov, Natalia Lavrova and Oxana Mikhailoff – will kick-off this year’s Sparkill Concert Series with an Opening Gala Classical Music Concert. Experience a one-of-a-kind transcription for two pianos of Tchaikovsky’s iconic Symphony No. 6 Pathetiqu and Rachmaninoff’s Suite No. 2.
