Live Fiddle Music at Family Barn Dance

Congers, NY — It’s time to break out your dancing shoes. This Friday, November 17, from 7-9:30p, Blue Rock School will hold its seventh annual old-fashioned Family Barn Dance. The event includes contra dancing and live fiddle music. It is held at the Congers Lake Memorial Park Auditorium (6 Gilchrest Road) in Congers, NY.
What can you expect? If past years are any indication, a big crowd, and a lively, foot-stompin’ time. Children of all ages are welcome, and no previous dance experience is necessary.
Renowned dance caller, Eric Hollman, will lead the way as guests keep step to live, traditional fiddle tunes from Ireland, New England, Appalachia and beyond. This year’s musical lineup includes Nyack’s own Ian Moore on fiddle and Matt Greenhill on guitar.
There also will be a raffle and silent auction. Refreshments for sale will include freshly-popped popcorn, local pickles, as well as cider, donuts and apples from The Orchards at Concklin Farms.
The event is open to the public. Admission is $10 per person and tickets are available at brownpapertickets.com, but will also be sold at the door. The event sponsored by Just Energy, and all proceeds benefit the Ruth Schaeffer Scholarship Fund at Blue Rock School in West Nyack, NY.
Date & Time: Friday, November 17th from 7 – 9:30 pm
