Oil and Water: Privatization and Public Schools

David Greene, author of “Doing the Right Thing: A Teacher Speaks,” leads a thought-provoking discussion about the role of private corporations and their philanthropic foundations in the public school system. True donations or opportunities to buy influence and profit?  Greene is a retired teacher, program consultant for WISE services, education advocate and author. Tuesday’s presentation is part of the Nyack Library’s “Food for Thought” series.

The Return of the Eagles to Rockland County

The three acclaimed Furuya Sisters – all Julliard graduates – perform together in a piano trio at the Carnegie-Farian Room of the Nyack Library. Come listen to a relaxing, soothing, and joyful performances of beautiful classical music! The program will include piano trios by Mozart, Kreisler, and Mendelssohn. Special student discounts offered for this performance only!

Yoni Levyatov

Pianist Yoni Levyatov performs encores that alternate between the humorous and the profound. Brilliant and expressive encores by Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninoff complement major works in Schumann’s Faschingsschwank aus Wien (Carnival Jest form Vienna), Beethoven’s charming Sonata in G major, and Liszt’s gypsy-inspired Hungarian Rhapsody No.10, which bookend this exquisite program.
