The Villages: TZ Vista, New NY Bridge

This Week in The Villages: By now it has the ring of a lyric you can’t get out of your head: “The TZ Vista project is again on the agenda at a special Planning Board meeting.” (Okay, it ain’t Dylan or Mann or RZA. But yes, more TZ Vista planning this week.) And more music for your ears: Clarkstown gets a historic property, Nita Lowey fights for Meals on Wheels, and the New NY bridge westbound span is all aglow. There’s also Tuesday night music in Memorial Park, a free outdoor movie on Wed and NO PARKING on Main Street for Thursday’s Classic Car Night.

Village of Nyack

There will be a special Planning Board meeting on Friday, July 21 at 7p in the Village Hall to consider a Determination of Significance under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) relative to the applications of TZ Vista LLC.

Town of Clarkstown

The Tallman-Budke and Vanderbilt-Budke-Traphagen Houses were added to the National Register of Historic Places. The nine acre Traphagen property, which includes the 1791 Tallman-Budke House and the 1820 Vanderbilt-Budke-Traphagen House, was recently added to the New York State Register of Historic Places.
The Tallman-Budke house is one of the oldest sandstone houses in the region, and the Vanderbilt-Budke-Traphagen house represents a colonial revival style dwelling. The historic houses are adjacent to the town’s 78 acre park, Germonds Park.
Additionally, this year the town started a weekly farmers market on Saturdays from 9a – 1p on the property, giving Clarkstown residents access to agricultural products and returning this unique and historic property to its roots as a farm.

Tappan Zee Bridge / New NY Bridge

All roadway lighting fixtures on the westbound span have been successfully installed. The installation of the upper main span tower aesthetic lighting fixtures has also been completed. Periodic lighting tests will be conducted to confirm the connectivity of each luminaire.

Rockland

“I’ll fight the cuts President Trump proposed to Meals on Wheels,” NY Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-NY17/Rockland-Westchester) said on July 10, when she rode along with the volunteer organization. “Letting our seniors go hungry just isn’t an option. It makes economic sense to invest in these programs that support seniors in their own homes and keep them out of the hospital, where one day costs the same as one year of Meals on Wheels services. I’ll fight tooth and nail in my committee this week to save Meals on Wheels.”
